OpenCities Map Help

Search Dialog

Used to define a search criterion that can be applied against the properties of the selected feature class.

File Menu

SettingDescription
New Creates a new empty search form, replacing the previous search. It is necessary to clear the previous search.
Open Opens a saved search.
Save Saves the current search to a file.
Save As Saves the current search to a differently named file.
Close Closes the search form.

Tools Menu

SettingDescription
Options Opens the Options dialog, which has the following settings:
  • Default logical operator – The default operator to use when multiple attribute queries are defined.
  • Show only types where items exist – This option will show/hide classes only available in the session or the entire ECSchema. This option typically does not apply to OpenCities Map users.
  • Show "hidden" item types – In an ECSchema, classes can be marked as hidden (custom attribute in the schema file). This option will show/hide these classes. This option typically does not apply to OpenCities Map users.
  • Case Sensitive - When toggled on, the case is considered.


Toolbar Used to turn the toolbar on or off. The toolbar provides quick access to the New, Open, and Save commands.

Where... Menu

Defines the various criteria for the search.

SettingDescription
Spatial Extents Includes feature instances that match the spatial criteria. Does the object overlap the selected view, fence, or selection set. If a selection set or fence is not active then those options will not appear in the list of valid spatial extents.
Property value is Includes feature instances that match the selected criteria. The user selects the property to be searched, defines a logical operator and then a value to be applied to the search.
Related item is Does not apply to OpenCities Map users.

After defining the search criteria, click Add to Search to add that criteria to the search operation.

An example search is shown below. It states "Find all valves whose HydrantID is greater than 31200 AND whose Condition is Good"

Search Options

Various search options are available to the right of the feature class selector.

SettingDescription
Search for items and their sub-items Does not apply to OpenCities Map users.
Add and remove properties to be selected in the search Defines which properties should be shown in the Data Browser after the search has been performed.
Define the sort order of the search Defines how the results of the search should be sorted in the Data Browser. It is always possible to further sort the results from the Data Browser itself.
